German inner-city mall specialist ECE opens the 25,000-m2 Europa-Galerie Saarbrücken on Thursday. The shopping centre features 110 specialist stores, cafés, restaurants and service outlets over three levels.
Credit Suisse Asset Management is the investor in the EUR 170 mln scheme. The asset is owned by Credit Suisse's open-ended real estate fund CS Euroreal. ECE developed the project and will be responsible for the long-term management of the centre.
The Europa-Galerie has been constructed on the premises of the former Saar-Galerie and the old Bergwerksdirektion, or mining directorate. The historical part of the Bergwerksdirektion has been completely preserved and the building integrated as own component in the Europa-Galerie.
The patio between the former Saar-Galerie and the Bergwerksdirektion is spanned with a particularly light and translucent foil construction made of the special material ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene to create a unique look and atmosphere.
'The Europa-Galerie with its high-class internal and external architecture is one of Germany's most outstanding shopping centres and will give further positive impetus to the regional capital Saarbrücken as business location,' said Karl- Heinz Heuß, managing director of Credit Suisse AM Immobilien.
