German retail property specialist ECE opens Árkád Szeged shopping centre in Hungary on Tuesday. The retail destination in the southern Hungarian city of Szeged comprises 130 stores, cafés, restaurants and service businesses on 41,000 m2 spread over three levels.

Around 1,000 people will be employed in the new shopping centre. An architectonical highlight is the integration of historical elements of a former hemp-spinning factory into the exterior facade. The catchment area comprises more than 400,000 people.

ECE will manage the shopping centre that involved a total investment of more than EUR 100 mln.

Separately, ECE announced that its Serdika Center in Sofia has been awarded the DGNB certificate in Gold by the Bulgarian Green Building Council (BGBC).
