Global asset manager DWS has appointed Ulrich von Creytz as chief investment officer (CIO) for real estate in Europe.
Von Creytz will be based in Frankfurt and report to Clemens Schaefer, who oversees real estate for both APAC and Europe.
He will leverage his 20+ years of European real estate expertise and client relationship experience to strengthen the client focus and investment strategy of DWS' European real estate platform.
Working closely with research, strategy, portfolio management, and transactions teams, Von Creytz will align DWS' real estate investments with thematic trends and drive market positioning.
Von Creytz joined DWS in 2004 and has held various leadership roles in real estate. Most recently, he led the Real Estate Specialists in EMEA, managing teams in Frankfurt and London.
He will join the DWS European Investment Committee and retain his two existing board positions in Germany.
Clemens Schaefer, global head of Real Estate, APAC & Europe said: ‘I am confident Ulrich’s long-standing experience and strategic ability will create a positive impact on the investment process, aligning investment themes and capital sources. His strong relationships built across the platform, industry, and our investor base will play a critical role in shaping the future growth of DWS’ European real estate platform.’
Von Creytz added: ‘This position is a great honour given the long-standing track record and reputation of DWS as a leading European real estate investment manager. I look forward to defining an investment agenda around value and growth creation, aligned with our clients’ aspirations. We are starting to see some compelling opportunities arise in European Real Estate markets. This is driven by a rare window of opportunity for investors ready to enter the market over the next 2 to 3 years who we believe could profit from the strong expected recovery.’
