FMT vastgoedbeheer, the Netherlands-based specialist in vacancy management, is poised to open a branch in London as the first step in its international expansion.
The company specialises in the temporary management of vacant properties. It provides management services to property owners and mediates in specific categories of occupiers, such as entrepreneurs, artists and students, as temporary tenants at a minimal cost based on a loan-for-use agreement to ensure that the property is maintained.
FMT said it intends to build on its success and experience in the Netherlands by expanding into the UK and European markets, starting with a branch in London, to open in November of this year. Managing director Jeroen Fanchamps feels the UK offers excellent potential in vacancy management and temporary property management: 'The country provides a good climate for new business owners, and since they’re our main market, I see plenty of opportunity.'
The company’s London branch will be managed locally, operating as an independent subsidiary of FMT under the name DEX Property Management. Rogier Donkersloot has been appointed the new UK director and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the London branch.
