The merger is part of ING's 'Back to Basics' strategy aimed at curbing capital expenditure and limiting the risks of its real estate activities. De Vries' departure takes effect on 1 August.
Within the new organisation, the position of Dutch country manager will be combined with existing staff functions. The Dutch project organisation, led by commercial directors René Hersbach and Erik Faber, will be steered directly by Bert Kragtwijk, member of the ING RED Management Board.
De Vries' departure follows the resignation earlier this year of Menno Maas as CEO of ING RED. In May, Maas assumed a new position as CEO of Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) at UK-based adviser DTZ. Maas is based in the Netherlands.
