Property adviser DTZ has been named 'European Office Agency Team of the Year' at the European Property Awards held at the Expo Real trade fair in Munich last week. Other contenders for the award were Cushman & Wakefield, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank and Leimdorfer.

Property adviser DTZ has been named 'European Office Agency Team of the Year' at the European Property Awards held at the Expo Real trade fair in Munich last week. Other contenders for the award were Cushman & Wakefield, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank and Leimdorfer.

DTZ noted it was presented with the award in recognition of 'its unique joined up, co-ordinated cross border team and outstanding achievements across Europe in the past 12 months'. The highlights of DTZ's activities included letting a total of three million m2 of office space across Europe, 10% more than the year before. The award was also in recognition of the leasing and development advice given b y DTZ on a number of projects. These included the 50,000 m2 Schönbrunner Straße project in Austria, 30,000 m2 at the Edison project in Milan, advise on the 22,000 m2 at Luxembourg Plaza in Prague and leasing and development advice on 15,000 m2 at Diagnol 197 in Barcelona.

Jones Lang LaSalle won the award for best European investment agency team of the year. Tony Horrell, CEO of European Capital Markets at JLL, said the award 'recognises our leading market position and shows that we are acknowledged for our financial, local, cross-border and international investment expertise.' Other short-listed firms for the award included CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield and King Sturge.

Portugal's Sonae Sierra was named best shopping centre developer of the year. The jury of the European Property Awards 2007 said Sonae Sierra had been chosen because of its introduction of innovative concepts in the sector. Other nominees for the award were Germany's ECE, Foruminvest of Belgium, Multi Development (the Netherlands) and Westfield (Australia).

The European Property Awards are promoted by real estate magazines Property Week and Immobilien Zeitung, as well as Expo Real itself.
