Mac 567, the new office complex developed by Doughty Hanson in Milan, has become the first Italian project to boast a BREEAM sustainability certificate.
Located in the vicinity of Milan's Piazzale Maciachini, the scheme offers around 32,000 m2 of office space and represented an investment of around EUR 150 mln. ASC Engineering assisted Doughty Hanson in the certification process, while Europa Risorse acted as developer on behalf of Doughty Hanson.
The project saw the redevelopment of the former Carlo Erba industrial site covering an area of almost 100,000 m2 in a central location which has been abandoned for years.
Doughty Hanson, which has been active in Italy since 1999, acquired the site in 2007 in a joint venture with its Italian partner BPD Property Development Srl. It was purchased for the group's Doughty Hanson & Co European Real Estate II fund which committed EUR 28 mln for the purchase.
