The owner of Galeria Bursztynowa is already eyeing an extension of the new shopping centre which is due to open in Ostrolêka later this week.
Galeria Bursztynowa is scheduled to open the doors of its retail gallery and Tesco hypermarket on 29 May after opening the OBI DIY and gardening products section last Friday. The mall is 93% let, according to its developer Narev Inwestycje.
The company's president Roman Tomczak said: 'We are very much looking forward to making the full offer of our shopping centre available to customers. Due to the high footfall and comments we receive from tenants we are considering its extension quite soon to ensure expansion options for existing and new brands.'
Galeria Bursztynowa is located in downtown Ostrolêka, a city with approximately 54,000 inhabitants in northeast Poland. The centre totals around 32,000 m2 of usable space, including 27,000 m2 of retail space. The development was financed by Bank BPS and a consortium of cooperative banks. Cushman & Wakefield was responsible for the project management and leasing.
According to Tomasz Górski, a senior negotiator from Cushman & Wakefield, the region has 'huge' potential. 'Galeria Bursztynowa is a regional shopping centre with stores leased by both well-known international retailers and local entrepreneurs. Its occupancy level is high given the current market conditions. There are only a few vacant small stores which could appeal to local businesses.'
Other occupiers besides anchor tenants Tesco and OBI include Martes Sport and 4F (sports clothing and equipment), CCC and Ray Obuwie (footwear), Big Star, Top Secret and Quiosque (fashion), Rossmann (health and beauty store), Lechpol (electronics), Briju (jewellery) and Toy Planet.
