German housing giant Deutsche Wohnen has appointed Konstantina Kanellopoulos and Lars Urbansky as co-CEOs of the firm, following the completion of its tie-up with peer Vonovia.

Kanellopoulos, who comes from Vonovia where she was general manager of the firm's value-add strategy, will take charge of technical infrastructure, IT, new buildings and existing investments, law and compliance, sustainability and public affairs at Deutsche Wohnen.

Said Kanellopoulos: 'I am very much looking forward to shaping the further development of Deutsche Wohnen. The company has created an excellent position in important markets, which we will build on in the coming years.'

Lars Urbansky, who was previously chief operating officer (COO) of Deutsche Wohnen SE, will be responsible for property management, facility management, customer communication and strategy, human resources, investment management, integration and care at the firm.

Philip Grosse, who has just been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of Vonovia as of 1 January, will remain as CFO of Deutsche Wohnen until 31 March.

Olaf Weber has been appointed as designated CFO, becoming a further member of the board of Deutsche Wohnen. As of 1 April, he will take charge of accounting, controlling, investor relations and taxes.

Added Urbansky: 'Managing Deutsche Wohnen together with Konstantina Kanellopoulos and Olaf Weber is a great task. In my many years of activity I have accompanied the company through many exciting phases. Now I would like to move on to the next successful chapter of Deutsche Wohnen.'

New supervisory board
Helene von Roeder has been elected as the new chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Wohnen, and is responsible for digitisation and innovation at Vonovia.

Former member of the supervisory board, Dr. Florian Stetter, has been re-elected. Newly appointed members of the Deutsche Wohnen supervisory board include Dr. Fabian Heß, Peter Hohlbein, Christoph Schauerte and Simone Schumacher.

Following its successful takeover bid, Vonovia holds a majority stake of around 87% in Deutsche Wohnen.
