Due to be completed by Christmas, the site will then be redeveloped into a public square, forming a central part of the new town centre redevelopment. The development will include landmark buildings providing shops, offices and new homes.

Wembley Central will provide 12, 820 m2 of retail and leisure space, 2,322 m2 of offices and 235 apartments. Major high street retailers are already lining up to trade in the new-look centre, including TK Maxx, Somerfield, Iceland and Holland & Barrett.

The first phase of 85 affordable homes and new offices will be completed next summer. Delivery of the new shops and private apartments will take place in phases from autumn 2008 to spring 2009. The latest phase of work will ensure that development of the new public square can begin early in the New Year, opening up the train station to the High Road.
