Slovenia’s NLB Group will provide €55 mln in project financing to Serbian company Delta for the reconstruction of the Sava Center venue in Belgrade.
The resources will be provided through the NLB Bank in Ljubljana and Serbian unit NLB Komercijalna Banka.
The project foresees the complete reconstruction of over 100,000 m2 of congress, office and retail space in New Belgrade, for an overall cost of €100 million.
Installations, equipment and the glass façade will be completely replaced, while new multimedia and communication equipment will be installed.
The renovated Sava Center will feature modern and attractive networking spaces, smaller halls for corporate gatherings and parallel sessions during large congresses, as well as business and shopping zones.
It will also be energy efficient in line with the modern standards of safety and sustainability.
Vlastimir Vukovic, president of the executive board of NLB Komercijalna Banka, said: ‘For over four decades, Sava Centar has been a symbol of connection, exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, which know no boundaries – as NLB Komercijalna Banka and NLB Group strive to be. We therefore want to thank our partners from the Delta Congress Center for the opportunity to support the reconstruction of the legendary edifice, which will bring back entertainment and culture, but also relaunch the congress industry in the country and the region.’
Work started in December 2021 and should be completed by the beginning of 2024 at the latest.
Since its opening in 1977, Sava Centar has hosted over 1.6 million participants at over 7,000 local and international congresses and conferences, including the general assemblies of the World Bank, IMF, UNESCO, OSCE and the EBRD.
