Deka Immobilien is acquiring an office and healthcare centre property under construction in a new district of the Finnish capital Helsinki.
The German fund manager has signed a purchase agreement for Kalasatama Health and Wellbeing Centre.
Deka will take possession on completion of the project by Finnish construction company SRV Group at end-2017. The property will then be added to the portfolio of Deka's WestInvest ImmoValue fund. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The new building has a leasable area of 18,300 m2 and 35 parking spaces. It is fully leased under a long-term lease to the City of Helsinki and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2017.
The office and healthcare centre is located in the new submarket of Kalasatama around 3 km east of Helsinki’s central business district.
The new district is currently being developed on the site of the former fishing harbour. The focus of the development is on high-quality residential space, but a large shopping centre is also scheduled to open in 2018. A hotel and an office tower have also been planned. The city expects the current number of residents in Kalasatama to increase from 2,000 to 20,000 in the next 15 years.
