German property fund Deka has re-entered the Portuguese market with the acquisition of the Torreshopping retail centre from Grupo Mateus. The shopping mall, located in Torres Novas, in Central Portugal, involved an investment of EUR 30.25 mln, Grupo Mateus said in a press release.

The shopping mall, inaugurated in April 2005, has a total lettable area of about 25,000 m2. It features 70 stores, a three-screen cinema, restaurants and about 800 parking spaces. The manager of Grupo Matues Pedro Mateus told the website O Mirante Online that he had been in contact with the German group for six months, and that the deal went well for both parts.

Deka owns several commercial spaces in Europe, including the Deutsch Bank building in Lisbon, acquired for EUR 20 mln in the end of 2004.
