Danielsson, who has worked at Skanska since 1991, is currently serving as executive vice president with responsibility for Skanska’s construction units in the US and infrastructure development.

'I am very happy that Anders Danielsson has agreed to take on the position as new CEO. He has a solid track record of almost 30 years at Skanska,' said Hans Biörck, chairman of the board of directors for Skanska.

'Anders has worked in multiple countries and has successfully managed the business in both construction and development. He is very result-oriented and has a strong focus on profitability. He is also an appreciated value driven leader with a strong ethical compass.'

Before joining Skanska’s senior executive team in 2013, Danielsson was president of Skanska Norway where he led two successful turnarounds of construction operations and residential development operations. Prior to that, he served as president for four years at Skanska Sweden.

'Skanska is a fantastic company with great people and great projects. I really look forward to taking on the role of leading the Group and being part of developing a profitable Skanska that builds for a better society,' Danielsson said.

He will assume his new role as of 1 January 2018, when Karlström will step down as CEO and member of the board. Karlström will remain as a senior advisor until January 2019, when he will retire.

Skanska also announced that after 35 years in the company, Mats Williamson, executive vice president, would be stepping down as of January 1.

A member of the senior executive team since 2009, he was previously CEO of Skanska Sweden, and more recently was responsible for Skanska Poland, Skanska Czech Republic and Slovakia.

“I want to thank Mats for his years at Skanska. He has lead everything from great projects such as the Öresunds-bridge to entire business units as a member of Skanska’s senior executive team”, said Karlström.
