Dades, the privately owned Danish real estate investment trust, has acquired the Copenhagen headquarters of financial services group Nykredit for DKK 1.5 bn (€202 mln).
Nykredit, the vendor and tenant, is to continue to lease the Crystal, a 24,000 m2 property at Kalvebod Brygge 20 in Copenhagen for five and a half years. Should Nykredit choose to relocate to another premises within that period the price will be adjusted down to DKK 1.4 bn.
Designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and delivered in 2001, the office building, the architecture firm says, was conceived as a transparent cube, providing clear visual connections with Copenhagen harbour. The ten-storey glass structure is one of the cities largest office buildings featuring an atrium flooded with natural light and linking to all levels. An extension to the building rests on a single point, allowing for unhindered views as well as passage underneath the building.
Dades owns and manages a DKK 7 bn portfolio comprising of 63 office buildings and 12 shopping centres and residential uits located in metropolitan areas of the largest Danish cities.
