Zwetsloot has been at the Brisbane-headquartered company since 2008 and will assume responsibility for its €3.7 bn of assets under management in Europe. He will also continue to manage the Benelux portfolio.

The appointment follows the company’s shift to an increasingly long-term focus and more diverse investor base. Among its recent client acquisitions is the oldest asset management firm in Korea, Korea Investment Management (KIM).

Announcing the appointment, Mark McLaughlin, Crownwell’s managing director for Europe, said: ‘Wouter is an integral part of the European team. His depth of experience from a career spent in asset and investment management, combined with his unrivalled knowledge of our European platform, means he will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of our strategy for Europe.’

Setting out his vision for the role, Zwetsloot said: ‘The creation of this role reflects the recent shift of emphasis in our business towards managing assets for the long-term on behalf of an increasingly diverse range of investors. The real estate team will have a strong focus on co-ordinating all aspects of asset and property management, ranging from tenant customer relationship management to ensuring operational consistency and efficiency across regions.’
