UK hotel group Crimson Hotels has acquired London’s Regency Hotel for over £100 mln (€136 mln) and reached an agreement with Hilton to convert it to a DoubleTree by Hilton property.

Crimson plans to invest £10 mln in refurbishments prior to opening, including the addition of a new lobby, revamped bar and lounge. The hotel is situated in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea within close proximity of Hyde Park, and includes 203 guestrooms, a health club and a range of meeting spaces.

'We are opening, on average, one DoubleTree by Hilton hotel every month across Europe, Middle East & Africa,' commented Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice-president of development for Europe and Africa. 'London is a particularly active market with robust fundamentals – and is now home to 10 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels.'

The hotel will be Crimson Hotels’ fourth London hotel under the brand, joining properties in London’s West End, Victoria and Woking.

CBRE represented the vendor on the deal.
