CEE-focused property investor CPI Property Group has announced the acquisition of the Futurum shopping centre in the Czech city of Hradec Králové from Meyer Bergman's second value-add fund.
Financial details were not disclosed.
Anchored by a Tesco hypermarket and with more than 100 other stores, Futurum features a multiscreen cinema complex and provides parking for 1,310 vehicles.
Futurum Shopping Centre was opened in 2000 and was substantially extended and modernised in 2012. Meyer Bergman European Retail Partners II purchased the 39,000 m2 shopping centre from a trio of investors in late 2014.
'Futurum Hradec Kralove Shopping Centre is our first prime shopping centre in the northeastern part of Czechia and strengthens our presence in this region,' commented Tomáš Salajka, director of acquisitions, asset management & sales at CPI Property Group. 'The centre fits perfectly into our long-term strategic plan to continue growing our regionally dominant position in the retail segment.'
Markus Meijer, Chief Executive Officer of Meyer Bergman, said: 'We took a solidly performing centre and made it more relevant for today’s shoppers. Improving the visitor experience and broadening the centre’s offer have made Futurum a place where people want to spend more time - for meeting up, entertainment as well as for shopping. Our efforts have attracted a range of international retailers to the centre and significantly improved its operational performance.'
