The cornerstone has been laid for the brand new Allianz Campus in Berlin.
The office complex, which is being constructed in the Adlershof district, will comprise 60,000 m2 on completion.
The project is being designed and developed by a joint venture between Corpus Sireo, the German real estate arm of Swiss Life Asset Managers, and FOM Real Estate.
The building will provide a new home for Allianz Deutschland, which will leave its current Berlin location at Treptowers in 2019.
FOM Real Estate, based in Heidelburg, is responsible for turnkey completion as the general contractor with subcontractors and is implementing the project in a partnering process with the general contractor Ed. Züblin AG, Stuttgart.
The construction work is expected to be completed by spring 2019, at which point Allianz's Berlin team will transfer into the building on a minimum term of 15 years.
The office will consist of three buildings with five storeys, each connected by two pedestrian bridges across Merlitzstrasse. Members of the public can access the commercial space via the arcades on Rudower Chaussee.
Corpus Sireo said it expected the building to receive the highest possible certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), 'DGNB Platinum'.
