Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers has strengthened its senior investment team in Europe through the appointment of Julian Gabriel, formerly head of real estate at Doughty Hanson & Co Real Estate.

Reporting directly to Charles Weeks, CEO of Cornerstone Europe, Gabriel will be responsible for sourcing new real estate investment and development opportunities across Europe, drawing on his 22 years of pan-European real estate investment experience.

Gabriel joined DHCRE at its inception in January 2000 and was appointed head of real estate in 2006. During this time he oversaw a total deal flow of €3 bn worth of real estate transactions across seven European countries and was largely accredited with the success of one of the top performing European opportunistic funds of its vintage, Doughty Hanson & Co European Real Estate Fund I. He also played a significant role in the formation, fundraising, sourcing of transactions and investment of capital for Doughty Hanson & Co European Real Estate Fund II, which raised around €590 mln.

Prior to his 14 years at Doughty Hanson, Gabriel served as vice president in the real estate department at Citibank, and the principal finance group at Deutsche Bank, respectively.

Cornerstone is one of the world's largest real estate investment managers with $46 bn (€36.2 bn) of assets under management.
