Corio, one of Europe’s largest retail property developers, is to purchase the Newport Nesselande shopping centre to the northeast of Rotterdam for EUR 30 mln. With some 10,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of lettable floor space, the centre will be part of the broader Newport Nesselande project, to include 464 homes and a car park for over 600 cars as well as shops and recreational facilities. It is scheduled for completion in 2009. Its location along a broad urban boulevard with adjacent parks offers plenty of opportunity for the development of leisure facilities. Shopping centres in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain and Turkey make up 81% of Corio's portfolio, currently valued at EUR 6 bn.

In addition, one of the company's office properties, in the Amstelveen suburb of Amsterdam, has just been renovated and is to be let to the city's Free University from 1 October 2007 for a period of ten years. The 6,877 m2 property is Corio's fifth office location to be let promptly after full renovation.
