Construction started on Wednesday for the new Arkády Pankrác shopping centre being developed in Prague by project partners Rodamco Europe and ECE Projektmanagement. With around 45,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of floor space, the retail complex will house some 140 retail outlets. The development, located in Prague's largest district Pankrác, is expected to open in autumn 2008. It will involve an investment of about EUR 100 mln. The partners have engaged Strabag as the general contractor.

Construction started on Wednesday for the new Arkády Pankrác shopping centre being developed in Prague by project partners Rodamco Europe and ECE Projektmanagement. With around 45,000 m2 of floor space, the retail complex will house some 140 retail outlets. The development, located in Prague's largest district Pankrác, is expected to open in autumn 2008. It will involve an investment of about EUR 100 mln. The partners have engaged Strabag as the general contractor.

The catchment area of the mall will come to one million local residents within a half an hour drive. The centre will also provide around 1,100 parking spaces for motorists, and will have a direct link to a metro station and be serviced by several bus lines.

Both Rodamco Europe and ECE have already been active in the country. Rodamco developed the Èerný Most shopping centre, the Èerný Most entertainment centre and Centrum Chodov in Jižní Mìsto, and ECE built the Vankovka shopping centre in Brno and is planning to build the Perštýn complex in the centre of Liberec.
