A former garage compound will be home to 142 condominiums within a new 'Green Village' in Berlin's Friedrichshain district. The project, scheduled for early 2013, will be built by German property company Sanus and will include the redevelopment of Rigaer Strasse 19 and the construction of an 86 space underground car park.

The estate's designated name 'Green Village' reflects the ambitious green standard it intends to meet in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2014.

'Demand for housing concepts that satisfy both the urban lifestyle and the demand for sustainability is particularly high in Friedrichshain,' said Marc Wiese, Member of the Board of the Berlin-based Sanus.
