French property group Constructa is opening a new office in Lyon which will bring together its three business lines: management unit CAM, development subsidiary Constructa Promotion and property services unit Constructa Vente. The three companies will occupy the Carré Vendôme office in Lyon.

Last year, the city of Lyon recorded real estate investments of EUR 1.13bn, up 48% on 2006 levels, making it France's second-most active property market after Paris, Constructa said in a statement. The company believes that this trend will continue, with La Part-Dieu central business district set to house two new office towers, the Oxygène development and the la Tour InCity project. As a result, the company decided to launch a new office in the French city.

'Asset management requires a very detailed knowledge of the market that necessitates a presence on the ground. You cannot manage Lyon from Paris. It is logical that we set up a special organisation dedicated to our Lyon assets,' said Philippe Couturier, president of CAM.

Constructa has been active in Lyon since 2001, when it acquired a 20,000 m2 office building from Sogeprom for EUR 50mln.
