Under the development plan, the towers will be transformed into a high-quality mixed-use scheme named ‘Two Amsterdam’. The investment amount for the project was not disclosed.

Also known as the Akzo and Stibbe towers, the original buildings date from the early 1990s amd are currently vacant.

The new project will provide 20,000 m2 of multi-tenant office space, a high-end hotel with330 rooms, a sky bar and an underground car park holding 380 parking spaces.

KCAP Architects & Planners is responsible for developing the design. Construction is due to commence in 2017, with delivery planned for the end of 2018.

Martijn Houwen, head of real estate markets Benelux at Commerz Real: 'This transformation addresses the real demand for high-quality office space in one of the Netherlands' most desirable office locations. Redevelopment, whilst making the building more sustainable, offers the desired quality, look and flexibility with an existing building and represents an outstanding alternative to tailor-made new build. Combining a hotel, along with the Zuidas district's first-ever sky bar, will give a major boost to the location and its surroundings.'
