The real estate professional has been with the company for six years, most recently as global head of asset management and sustainability, a role he has held since 2021.

He has been responsible for the some 200 properties managed through a variety of Commerz products. Henning Koch, chairman of the management of Commerz Real, will take over his duties. One major job was to integrate 49 properties the company bought in 2019 called the Millennium portfolio.

Koch said of Böhnlein: 'As an influential and creative personality, Jens has put together an outstanding team and significantly advanced both our asset management and the focus of our business on the topic of sustainability. I wish him all the very best and look back extremely positively on the collective challenges and successes.'

Koch added: 'Not to be underestimated is the fact that Jens has made a name for himself as a brand ambassador for Commerz Real throughout the industry and beyond, and at the same time made a significant contribution to our level of awareness.'

Böhnlein has been the chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Germany since 2023 and a member of the European Board of this leading industry federation.
