Colliers International has recruited Mihai Patrulescu, former senior economist at UniCredit Bank, as head of strategic analysis.

He takes over the position from from Daniela Popescu, who has moved to the retail department as senior associate.

'We wish to attract foreign investors and bring new capital to Romania, and with relevant macroeconomic information we can be more credible on an international platform when we lobby for our country,' said Ilinca Paun, managing director at Colliers International. 'Romania has an image problem and we are not doing business development at a governmental level. Therefore, we intend to contribute as much as possible to attracting companies to Romania, from those who wish to open BPO or SSC centres to investors who wish to buy or develop buildings,' Paun added.

Patrulescu has five years’ experience in economic research positions in the banking sector, during which he concentrated on economic development in Romania and in Central and Eastern Europe. He also worked to encourage foreign investment and studied the development of the banking system in Romania.

'I think the business environment in Romania is at an inflection point and we will soon see a new level of dynamism. The real estate market is closely connected to this effervescence, and this is reflected in all sectors: office, industrial and commercial spaces.
