Colliers International has completed the acquisition of the Polish operation of Harvey Spack Field, the UK retail warehousing firm. The deal will provide a platform for ongoing relationships between both firms with Colliers benefiting from HSF's retailer relationships.

Colliers said the takeover would strengthen its retail market position in Poland, by adding a new expertise in out of town retail park leasing and consulting services. The deal marked the start of a wave of mergers and acquisitions in the Polish real estate sector, it added.

HSF set up its business in Poland in 2006 and is widely regarded as the best retail park leasing team in Poland, Colliers said in a press release. Their client list includes leading retail park and commercial centre developers in Poland including Helical Poland, Apollo-Rida, Saller, NEPH, Jermon Poland and Quinlan Private Golub, either as exclusive or joint leasing agents. The company also counts as its client base UK-based UK retailers who have entered the Polish market including TK Maxx, Halfords and Carpetright.

The former HSF team will also be joining Colliers International including former managing director, Gary Thursby, who will join Ma³gorzata Trzaskowska, head of retail department of Colliers International Poland as the joint head.

'Despite the crisis Colliers will continue to invest and grow in the key strategic areas,' said Hadley Dean, Managing Partner of Colliers International Poland. 'It will enable us to become number 1 Real Estate Consultancy in Poland. Over the coming years we look forward to working with and utilising the outstanding relationships HSF have forged in the United Kingdom.'
