Andy Mercer has joined Colliers to lead the ongoing development and implementation of an ESG strategy for the firm’s property management clients in the UK and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
According to Colliers, Mercer has a strong track record in the industry, joining from JLL where he was head of energy services.
At Colliers, he will be head of ESG for the UK and EMEA within the property management team working with Andy Hay, managing director of property management in EMEA and Mark Jarrett, head of property management in the UK.
Said Mercer: 'My ambition is to help guide the property sector in reducing its climate impact by focusing on the economic benefits of delivering sustainable strategies and carbon reduction initiatives. I am excited to be joining Colliers at this pivotal time to work with property management clients to improve the long term value of their assets and the wider impact on the environment.
'It is a crucial time in the industry with ESG very much at the forefront of the minds of landlords, investors and occupiers. I look forward to being part of Colliers and accelerating the delivery of this essential service to clients across the UK and EMEA.'
Added Hay: 'The real estate industry is at a tipping point for ESG advisory services, particularly data collection and its interpretation into market-leading guidance and the resultant experience for both owners and occupiers.
'Property management is one of the best vehicles to make real and meaningful changes within real estate.'
Sad Jarrett: 'Our property management team are now taking a leading role in providing services that contribute significantly to achieving our clients and their occupiers net zero pledges.
'I’m delighted that Andy will lead our team in providing these strategic and operational services to reduce the carbon footprint and drive social value across our managed portfolio.'
