Belgian REIT Cofinimmo has appointed Jean-Edouard Carbonnelle as new Chief Executive following the departure last week of Serge Fautré.

Jean-Carbonnelle, currently Chief Financial Officer and director, will assume the role of chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer as from this date.

Carbonnelle, aged 58, joined Cofinimmo in November 1998. Previously, he worked in the Group of Société Générale de Belgique, first within the holding company itself, then as director and Chief Financial Officer of Diamant Boart and finally within the financial department of Union Minière. He began his career in the department of industrial and mining projects within the World Bank.

'Cofinimmo has redeployed more than half of its assets in seven years to new real estate sectors which provide a solid cash flow, a long term lease, value protection and risk diversification,' Carbonnelle said.
