Cofinimmo has appointed Jean Kotarakos as the new chief financial officer of the Belgian real estate investment trust (REIT).
Kotarakos is set to join Brussels-based Cofinimmo from his current role as chief financial officer at Aedifica, a Belgian REIT focused on healthcare property, by 9 July at the latest.
Kotarakos graduated as a commercial engineer from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (ULB). He has taught at the school's executive programme for real estate since 2010.
His career in business has included time at accountancy firm KPMG and D’Ieteren, a Belgian car and car parts distributor. He joined Aedifica as chief financial officer in 2007.
At Cofinimmo, Kotarakos is filling the vacancy created in February when Jérôme Descamps resigned from the chief financial officer position for personal reasons. Outgoing CEO Jean-Edouard Carbonnelle is currently supervising Cofinimmo's financial teams and operations. Carbonnelle's nominated successor, Jean-Pierre Hanin, is due to take over temporary responsibility for the group finances, assuming his appointment as CEO is approved at the general shareholders' meeting on 9 May.
Cofinimmo, Belgium's largest REIT, manages a €3.5 bn portfolio, consisting mainly of office buildings in Brussels. The company also owns healthcare properties, distribution properties and other buildings in Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
