European property developer Codic has announced that it has been awarded the first BREEAM certificate for an office building for its Access and Bridge buildings in the Atlantis project in Brussels.
Codic said the awards, which certify the buildings as 'very good' on the BREEAM scale, are a first for the office sector in both Belgium and Europe. BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. The certification process assess the projected performance of a building throughout its entire life cycle.
The 31200 m2 Altantis office project was designed by Cerau - DSW Architects and is being delivered in stages up to 2010. Investor UBS Real Estate is backing the project.
