Finnish retail specialist Citycon said its Åkersberga Centrum shopping centre located in the Stockholm metropolitan area has opened to the public after a major extension and redevelopment programme.
Following the revamp, Åkersberga Centrum hosts some 70 stores, service providers and restaurants, offering a leasable area of 27,500 m2. Citycon invested a total of SEK 467 mln (EUR 52 mln) to extend the mall, which now houses new tenants such as H&M, MQ, Esprit, Hemtex, Kjell & Co and Ur & Penn.
'We are now completing the second phase in the development and modernisation of Åkersberga Centrum, with seven all-new stores opening their doors. They will reinforce our offerings in fashion, home electronics and decoration in particular,' said Ulf Attebrant, vice-president of Citycon's Swedish operations.
Citycon owns 75% of the centre, with Armada Fastigheter holding the other 25%. The two shareholders split the costs of the redevelopment project in proportion to their ownership.
Citycon is active in Finland, Sweden and the Baltic countries with a portfolio consisting of 34 shopping centres and 46 other retail properties.
