Swiss hotel owner-operator somnOO has acquired the Forsters Posthotel four-star hotel in Donaustauf near Regensburg, Germany for an undisclosed amount.
Hotel real estate advisor Christie & Co brokered the deal.
Previously run by the owner family Forster, Forsters Posthotel opened in 1994 and provides 71 rooms and suites. In addition, the hotel offers two restaurants, a wellness spa area and function rooms for business and private celebrations.
The new owner and operator of the hotel property, somnOO, already owns and operates over 50 hotels in Germany and France.
‘In addition to our hotels in North Rhine-Westphalia, we are opening another region for us in Germany with the Posthotel. Once again, we look forward to working with the proven team of local employees and business partners to continue the great success story of the sellers for our customers,’ commented managing director Nils Backhaus on the purchase.
In a structured transaction process, Christie & Co identified the buyer and operator for the hotel on behalf of the owners. ‘Even before the pandemic, the tourism region of Regensburg had been growing continuously and was able to excel with more overnight stays every year. Due to this demand situation, we expect a rapid recovery and stabilisation, which is already strongly evident this year. The interest of Europe-wide hotel investors in the property is further proof of the attractiveness of the region,’ added Robin Barth, senior consultant investment & letting at Christie & Co.
