Eurofund Group, the investment firm that teamed up with Henderson Park late last year in acquiring Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow for £164 mln, has appointed a CEO for a retail scheme in Portugal’s Lisbon provocatively described as being ‘anti mall’.
Allison Newton has become CEO of THE HOOD, which launched in November 2021 next to Lisbon’s city centre, and whose design concept is to connect urban trends and adventure sports with street art and other community ideas.
Newton has been appointed due to her 20-year experience in marketing, entertainment and sales including at Spanish beer company, Mahou San Miguel, and Belgium drinks giant, AB InBev.
Though THE HOOD is described as being ‘anti-mall’, Eurofund’s strategy is to deliver returns from bricks and mortar as opposed to online shopping.
In a statement, Eurofund Group said it aimed to ‘unlock value as the retail industry continues to change and evolve; keeping pace with the changes presented by the digital economy, embracing the opportunities e-commerce brings for bricks and mortar, and enhancing customer experience with a level of emotional engagement that online cannot offer.’
The company operates in Spain, Portugal, the UK, and Italy.
As well as Eurofund Retail, it manages Eurofund Logistics.
Ion Saralegui is CEO.
