CBRE has been instructed to dispose of the Daniel Libeskind-designed Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin on behalf of NAMA-appointed receivers.

The selling agent is understood to be quoting in excess of €20 mln for what is the largest theatre in Ireland. CBRE received the instruction from Grant Thornton (statutory receivers Paul McCann & Stephen Tennant).

Designed by the internationally renowned architect Daniel Libeskind and constructed by building company Sisk, the theatre is widely regarded as the jewel in the crown of the new urban quarter of Grand Canal Square in Dublin. The West End style theatre is the largest theatre venue in Ireland. It provides seating capacity for 2,111 spectators over 10,8882 m2 divided between a basement and six upper floors.

The building initially opened as the Grand Canal Theatre in 2010 but was renamed in March 2012 as part of a six-year naming rights agreement with gas and electricity supplier Bord Gáis Energy.
