Real estate agent CBRE has hired Mark Burlton from C&W as global executive of its retail occupier team for EMEA.

Burlton, who was previously C&W's global head of cross-border retail, will lead the development of CBRE’s Retail Occupier business in Europe as well as advising its European retail clients on expansion into the US and Asia, and international retailers into Europe.

Prior to working for C&W, he was real estate director Europe for Ralph Lauren and real estate director for Northern Europe for Footlocker UK. During his 20-year career in international retail Burlton has represented clients such as Gap, Ted Baker, TK Maxx and Primark.

'Retailers are increasingly looking to expand their horizons, and in the last 12 months we have seen a number of US retailers in particular look to launch their brands in Continental Europe,' said Guy Hollis, head of advisory and transaction services, EMEA, CBRE.
