Global real estate advisor, CBRE, has appointed Sophia Cox as social value lead within its environmental consultancy business, led by Julie Townsend. Cox will start her new role in April 2021.
In the new role, Cox will be responsible for leading, managing and growing the social value service line for the UK business.
This will include overseeing the delivery, oversight and quality assurance in the provision of social value products and services for clients as well as quantifying the social value delivered by CBRE’s UK advisory business, which is integral to CBRE’s overall environmental social governance (ESG) strategy.
Cox was most recently sustainability advisor at the UK Green Building Council. In this role, she led UKGBC’s social value programme, creating industry guidance on key social value issues, influencing national and local social value policy and providing learning and development materials on social value in the built environment.
She also led the UKGBC’s Climate-KIC funded foreground programme, which supports local authorities taking a leadership role in local development. She is a subject matter expert for social value and local authority led development, according to CBRE.
Julie Townsend, head of environmental consultancy, CBRE said: 'There is an increasing need for reliable and repeatable metrics around the ‘S’ in ESG.
'The addition of Sophia to our ennvironmental consultancy team will allow us to enhance this capability for clients, solidifying our commitment to providing expert and holistic environmental consultancy advice to our clients, whilst simultaneously making a more positive impact on the communities in which they are a part.'
