Swedish company Catella Project Development is investing €400 mln in the new Düssel-Terrassen sustainable urban quarter in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The housing estate will be built on an area of around 7.5 hectares and the buildings will be harmoniously integrated with the existing mostly single-family houses.
The 700 planned flats range from compact flats to spacious 5-room flats, both owner-occupied and rental, in addition to flats for senior citizens and disabled people.
The Dussel-Terrassen will be a lively and mixed residential quarter in an area laid out with generous open spaces and playgrounds, featuring far-reaching views over the whole of Alt-Erkrath as far as Düsseldorf and the surrounding area.
The Dussel-Terrassen are the second largest certified climate protection housing estate in NRW certified by the state.
Incorporating the greening of flat roofs, energy generation from heat pumps and photovoltaic systems, the new urban quarter will provide a significant active contribution to climate protection.
The energy costs for the flats will be significantly lower compared to conventional methods and lead to a significant reduction in ancillary costs.
Amenities will include a day-care centre, a mobility station for e-mobility, and a parcel station.
The new quarter is in the immediate vicinity of the pedestrian zone and the S-Bahn station, from which the main railway station can be reached in only 9 minutes.
Coordination with the city and the relevant ministry is already underway on the building application for the subsidised flats, which will go into construction in the first construction phase on Schlüterstraße at the end of this year.
