Catella in Germany has founded a new company to support residential property transactions. The operations will be run under the name Catella Property Residential.

Frank Zweigner will take the lead of the company together with Klaus Franken, managing director of Catella Property. Zweigner, with a degree in construction engineering and real estate economics, has significant experience in the residential property industry. He has been active in the last few years as a board member at German company Vivacon where he was responsible for the purchase and sale of over 30,000 apartments.

Catella said the initiative consolidates its extensive activities in the asset class in a separate company. 'For our clients this means being able to call upon focused advise in order to prepare purchases and sales, (re-)financing or restructuring and to successfully implement them,' Franken said.

'The share of residential property transaction consulting has already grown to a not insubstantial share of our overall turnover in recent years,’ Franken said. .

‘Numerous portfolio and single transactions have been completed and support in financing and project development provided. The newly founded company is already handling a project and marketing volume of about EUR 250 mln at its official launch. The range of projects here varies from a portfolio with more than 100,000 m2 to conversion of old office space to student apartments valued at about EUR 5 mln,' he added.

In Germany, Catella is active nationwide and specialises in the management of real estate investments and portfolio consultancy, as well as letting, product management and development management. Catella is a European finance group active in Corporate Finance and Asset Management.
