CarVal Investors and development manager Canmoor have appointed McLaren to redevelop Interchange Croydon, the landmark headquarters office building at 81-85 Wellesley Road, which was recently approved by Croydon Council.
Interchange Croydon will comprise 10 storeys of Grade A office accommodation and a car park with 420 spaces. Construction work will complete in November 2013 but occupiers can move into their premises for fit-out purposes from September 2013.
Robert Balick, senior managing director and Europe Real Estate Lead with CarVal Investors, said the project will offer space at a cost comparable to the second-hand space occupiers already use. 'We are also targeting occupiers in more central London locations thanks to comparatively much lower occupancy costs, excellent transport links and the large skilled local workforce,' Balick noted.
Interchange is expected to benefit from the completion of Saffron Square, the residential development on the other side of Wellesley Road, which will provide a new public square and various restaurants and shops, and from significant investments in the centre of Croydon and to both the West and East Croydon stations.
