French grocery retailer Carrefour plans to sell 11 hypermarkets and real estate assets in southern Italy, as well as 17 cash & carry centres in northern Italy, according to an article in the financial paper Il Sole 24 Ore. Potential buyers for the hypermarkets include France's Auchan, Italy's COOP, Rewe-Standa, Pam, Bennet, Interdis, and Selex, according to the paper, which added that the initial bids must be presented by Oct 22. The paper said that Metro, and Italian companies Selex, Interdis, Lombardini, and Sogegross are interested in the cash & carry centres. Citigroup is acting for Carrefour.
