Global private equity firm The Carlyle Group has announced the letting of around 7,000 m2 of space at its Globen City office and retail scheme close to Stockholm, Sweden. The lettings, which are to both new and existing tenants, follow Carlyle's recent announcement that it had leased 30,000 m2 of space across its Nordic portfolio.

The new tenants at Globen City include electricity company Kraft & Kultur, which has taken 923 m2 of office space and Psoriasisförbundet, an association for people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, which has 520 m2. Leading Scandinavian beer importer Galatea Spiritis has signed for 490 m2 of office space.

Globen City has total office space of around 88,000 m2 and, with these latest lettings, is now 90% occupied. The vacancy rate has been reduced to around 2%, Since Carlyle acquired Globen City in August 2007, it has been working on a number of developments and improvements to the property. These have helped Carlyle improve its occupancy level from 84% at the time of acquisition.

'In spite of the tough rental market that has characterized the industry over the past year, we see the fact that we have been able to attract so many new tenants to Globen and reduce the vacancy rate as a strong endorsement of our strategy for the building and the quality of the product on offer,' said Anders Hörnqvist, property director at The Carlyle Group.
