Cushman & Wakefield has appointed a former New York police chief to head up its new global risk management division.
Raymond Kelly, police commissioner of the New York City police department from 2001 to end-2013, has been named president of Risk Management Services (RMS).
He will join Cushman & Wakefield on 24 March 2014.
Kelly was the longest serving commissioner in the NYPD's history. C&W said he oversaw a steep reduction in crime during his tenure as police commissioner, including a 40% decrease in violent crimes over the past 12 years. In addition he established counter-terrorism and intelligence bureaus following the attacks on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001.
C&W's newly formed RMS group will offer clients tailored solutions to manage and mitigate risks around the world. As president of RMS, Kelly will focus on helping clients identify potential vulnerabilities and prepare for and manage risk across a number of critical areas. These include physical and cyber security intelligence, crisis management, due diligence/site selection and emergency preparedness.
