Cushman & Wakefield has named Edward Forst, a former Goldman Sachs executive, as its new president and CEO.

He takes up his new role with the international real estate adviser on 6 January 2014. C&W's chairman Carlo Barel di Sant’Albano has served as interim president and CEO for the past five months following the resignation of the previous incumbent Glenn Rufrano.

Forst joins Cushman & Wakefield following his tenure at Goldman Sachs as global co-head of the investment management division, as a member of its management committee and previously as the firm’s chief administrative officer. Most recently, Forst served as an adviser to private equity firm Fenway Partners.

John Elkann, chairman and CEO of Exor, Cushman & Wakefield’s controlling shareholder, commented: 'The appointment of a professional of Forst’s calibre will further strengthen Cushman & Wakefield’s ability to capture the opportunities to accelerate the firm’s growth and capitalise on the substantial investment that has been made in the business over the last few years. Exor remains strongly committed to supporting Cushman & Wakefield’s development, enabling it to achieve its full potential in this exciting new phase.'
