Canada Life Investments announced on Monday that it has completed its largest-ever real estate finance deal.

The insurance group is providing a 20-year, £200 mln (€240 mln) fixed-rate deal secured by a portfolio of prime central London properties to a private investor.

This is the fourth transaction over £100 mln that Canada Life Investments has completed in the past 18 months. Most recently, the company agreed a £134.75 mln, 15-year fixed-rate loan with Shaftesbury, with other deals including a 15-year, £113.7 mln agreement with Picton Property Income and a £129.5 mln, 15-year facility to Schroders Real Estate Investment Trust.

'We have been providing commercial property finance for more than 20 years and this arrangement helps us meet our ongoing objective to grow the loan book while providing both borrower and property diversification,' said Nicholas Bent, head of real estate finance at Canada Life Investments.

He added: 'The long-term nature of these arrangements provides flexibility and stability for borrowers while fitting closely with Canada Life Investments’ approach. We tailor packages for private and public investors and are always looking for new clients in need of finance for their real estate holdings.'
