UK REIT British Land has appointed Nordic construction giant Skanska to build its latest office project in London, Blossom Street.

According to Skanska, the project development contract is worth £180 mln (€198 mln). The scheme will comprise 46,300 m2 of commercial, retail, public realm and residential units, and is targeting Breeam Excellent certification.

Construction work starts in early 2021 and is scheduled to complete in 2023.

Skanska said it had also been charged with installing the mechanical, electrical and public health services for the development.

Skanska is one of Europe's biggest developers. Outside the Nordics, the company has operations in building construction and civil engineering in Poland, Czech Republic & Slovakia and the UK.

Skanska develops commercial properties in Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary, while its residential development arm is active in Poland, Czech Republic and in the UK with the BoKlok concept.
