Logistics continues to drive the growth of CEE real estate, PropertyEU's latest investment briefing on the region have heard.

‘Logistics has grown significantly in last few years as asset class,’ said keynote speaker Damian Harrington, a research director with Colliers International.

‘It’s driven by distribution coming from Germany into Poland, the Czech Republic and touching on northern Slovakia.

‘Amazon has started moving in to take on bug facilities on Poland and the Czech Republic. They’ve just announced another 95,000 m2 facility in Prague and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s not just to satisfy demand in central and eastern Europe but also western Europe. E-tailing is still quite low compared to the UK and US and it will drive demand for logistics. Large distribution centres, city centre logistics support: these will be big. About 75% of new logistics construction in Europe now is in CEE,’ he said.
