A 40,000 m2 building for Deloitte & AKD, in Amsterdam's Zuidas business district, has received a BREEAM-NL Outstanding design certificate. Designed by PLP Architecture for developer OVG Real Estate, the development received the second highest score ever for an office building achieving the BREEAM Outstanding sustainability certification.

The Deloitte office also becomes the second largest building to receive the 'Outstanding' design certificate.

Set to become Deloitte's new Amsterdam office, the building is scheduled for completion in mid-2014, when it will be occupied by approximately 1,800 employees.

Ron Bakker, partner, PLP Architecture said: 'To receive the second highest score ever in the BREEAM ratings for offices is an incredible accomplishment. It marks the building's exceptional green credentials and reaffirms our belief that when delivered, the building will be operationally, aesthetically and environmentally outstanding. As we near completion, it is our hope that others will see what is achievable with large-scale projects and seek to learn from our experience.'

The certificate was issued by Jaap Gillis, president of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC), in the presence of HRH the Prince of Orange, at the opening conference of the annual Dutch Green Building Week.
