French group Bouygues Construction said on Monday that it has won a EUR 140 mln contract for the refurbishment of the iconic Ritz hotel situated in the Place Vendôme in Paris.

'The luxury hotel is to be totally refitted. This will encompass complete refurbishing of the decoration and renovation of the historic areas, while preserving the spirit of the iconic institution,' Bouygues said in a statement.

Architects Atelier Cos and interior designer Thierry Despont would coordinate the project. The Ritz is owned by Egyptian-born billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed.
